Colour Rush Art Competition
Competition is closed. Thank you for all your entries.
Winners:
Nikki King — a beautiful, considered use of colour that oozes simplicity and strength. It’s a very striking image.
Akshata Benegal Gulvady submitted this for her daughter. I love the abstract floral shapes, but the use of colour is gorgeous — the mix of line and filled in shapes is just delicious.

ADULT CATEGORY FINALISTS
Nikki King — a beautiful, considered use of colour that oozes simplicity and strength. It’s a very striking image.
Jessica Duffy —a cacophony of colour, shape, line, texture that just sings. The combination of these elements is balanced beautifully.
Belinda Wells. A beautiful underwater coral sea. I find this very soothing.
Tracy Robinson — a very brightly coloured floral that just pops off the page.
Sharon Strange — I am a huge advocate of art journaling — for working through all art’s and life’s ideas, problems and questions.
KIDS CATEGORY FINALISTS
Liam, age 7. I picked these for the col ours, patterns and the scary teeth and eyes! The fins are also really cool.
Lily Borg — these are rad sneakers and I love the expressive use of colour, pattern and shapes.
Angie, 16 - student, submitted by Belinda Wells. I love the textures, colours, and characters are freaky!
Akshata Benegal Gulvady submitted this for her daughter. I love the abstract floral shapes, but the use of colour is gorgeous — the mix of line and filled in shapes is just delicious.
Amy Lynch this dog is divine. There is a wonderful expression in the eyes and head tilt, but it is 100% the use of solid areas of colour that made me choose this one.

Colour Rush Inspiration
When you think “colour rush” you may picture an intense explosion of colour, rainbows dancing across the page, colourful flowers and botanical gardens, cataclysmic space particles colliding to make cosmic colours, mandalas with intricate patterns, or perhaps you think of a candy sugar rush!Close your eyes and think about what a colour rush looks like in your mind's eye, and let your art flow.
We have collected some fantastic pieces of art rich in colour to give you some inspiration for the competition, you can also read what they have to say about their art and the Life of Colour products.

Silky Stix, Juicy Gel pens, Watercolour and Acrylic Paint Pen Artwork by Stacey Montford.
“When I created this special peace symbol, I blended gel pens together for the faded effect over the top of yellow silky stix and used a fine tip paint pen for the bold lines to make everything pop!!”
Floral Brush Paint pens, Artwork by Jessica Dalgleish.
"This colourful lettering is easy to replicate with these brush pens. It just includes a few simple shapes and letters to make up my favourite word - ‘CREATE’. Something I try to do everyday! Adding all the colours of the rainbow gives it a summer/spring vibe too which I love!"
Watercolour Artwork by Dina Tharwat
“Painting and doodling helped me through the tough lockdown time, and it also created a stronger bond with my daughters, as we frequently spend quality time together painting and crafting. Thank you 😊”

I think next time you need to possibly have categories more appropriate.. like say 0-10 then 10-16 and 16+
Or something more along those lines. Some really great works in general though.
I am going to fit this in to my art and craft routine as a break from my routine for fun. You never know if you don’t have a go!
